Dear Friends, Partners, Investors and Neighbors,
As the son of a mother who grew up in the projects, on public assistance, in a neighborhood the rest of the world had written off. I've spent more than twenty-five years since then working in distressed real estate - buying, rehabbing, and repositioning the properties everyone else passed on. That combination taught me something I can no longer separate from how I run this business: distressed neighborhoods are full of opportunity, and the people who grew up inside that opportunity are too often the last ones allowed to share in it.
Shore Acres Capital was built on a simple premise: distressed real estate, in the right hands, is not a liability - it's an opportunity waiting to be unlocked. We've spent our history acquiring, rehabilitating, and repositioning properties that others walked past. It has been good business. But somewhere along the way, we started asking a harder question: opportunity for whom?
Too often, the neighborhoods that produce the greatest opportunity are not the ones that get to keep it. Outside capital comes in, captures the upside, and moves on. The residents who lived through the decline almost never get to participate in the recovery. The Inkwell Initiative's sole purpose is to change that belief from today forward.
With that said, I'm writing to tell you that Shore Acres Capital is changing direction as of today - not away from distressed real estate, but toward a larger purpose for it. We are launching Inkwell, a new initiative built on one conviction: urban America should be part of the revitalization of its own neighborhoods - as an owner and an investor, not a bystander to it.
These are neighborhoods people have already given their time, their labor, and their lives to. When the recovery finally comes, the people who stayed through the decline deserve a seat at the table, a piece of the pie - and a stake in the outcome - not just a front-row view of someone else's investment.
Inkwell will not lead with a deal. It will lead with a lesson. We've learned that access to capital means little without the confidence and knowledge to use it well, so we are flipping our own playbook: financial literacy first, asset investing second. Before SAC asks anyone to put money into a fund, an investment opportunity group or a distressed asset, we want them to understand what they're buying, why it matters, and how to protect and grow what they are investing in.
From this day forward, Inkwell exists to strip away the stigma that has long surrounded private equity, family offices, and institutional investing. Those worlds were never built with our neighborhoods in mind, and that has to change. Everyone deserves to feel comfortable in their own skin at that table - not intimidated by the language or the gatekeeping - while gaining real access to investments that were never even a consideration for them before.

This is a longer road than the one we've been on. I believe it's also the only version of this business worth building for the next chapter. Distressed real estate shouldn't just be an asset class - it should be a way for the people who know a neighborhood best to bet on it together, and to keep income from their investment.
None of this changes what has always come first for us. Protecting our investors' principal and their return remains our highest priority - now more than ever - backed by the same safeguards SAC has always put in place. Inkwell broadens who gets to invest with us. It does not lower the standard we hold ourselves to in doing it well.
I'm proud of what Shore Acres Capital has accomplished up to this point. I'm more excited about what the future holds for The Inkwell Initiative and its future investors. Thank you for being part of it - past, present, and what comes next.
